Free includes one Home, one Guardian and one active Viewer, with essential alerts and the alert clip. Pro is US$9.99 per Home each month or US$59.99 a year, supports up to four Guardians and multiple Viewers, and adds live video, the morning report, audio and optional Second Look. Founding Homes receive 30% off the first year of Velia Pro only.

Almost any Android from 2017 on: Android 8.0 or newer, 2 GB of RAM and any camera. The screen can be broken and the battery worn — the Guardian lives plugged in with the screen off. No SIM needed: just WiFi. The devices page has the exact requirements.

One Guardian covers one room or area, and only what falls inside its camera's field of view. It cannot see through walls and does not protect the rest of the home, the garden or trips outside. Other areas need additional, carefully placed phones; Pro supports up to four per Home. Velia is complementary support, not whole-home coverage.

No video recordings are stored on Velia’s servers. An authorized Viewer can request the temporary clip directly from the Guardian for up to 10 minutes after the alert. The clip is handled temporarily in memory (RAM). Velia does not write it to disk or store it as a cloud video recording.

Features, coverage and subscriptions vary by product. Velia complements other safety measures rather than replacing them. Can remain with the person beyond one room. Must be worn, charged or kept nearby. Some products require the person to press a button. Automatic detection depends on the particular device. One Guardian covers one chosen indoor zone. Velia is complementary support, not an emergency or medical service.

As the family's phone, yes: the app for watching and receiving alerts is on Android and iPhone. As the Guardian (the camera), Android only for now — which is precisely the phone that tends to sit in a drawer.

With her consent, generally yes — and Velia makes that part of setup: onboarding asks for the cared person's agreement before it starts watching. Laws vary by country, and intimate spaces have special protection. The default no-image mode helps: alerts without video.

Check the Guardian and network status after an interruption. A configured Guardian attempts to resume after a restart or app update. Camera permissions and Android restrictions still apply; check its status after an interruption.

Velia learns spatial patterns over time to help interpret movement. Placement, visibility and setup quality affect the result; it cannot always distinguish rest from a possible fall. When someone leaves one camera’s view, a recent sighting by another Guardian can help avoid an unnecessary disappearance alert. It does not cancel every kind of alert or guarantee fewer false alarms.

On Free, the active Viewer receives the alert and can request the event clip directly from the Guardian. If nobody responds, Velia alerts again after 3 minutes and escalates at 8. Pro lets multiple Viewers participate; the first response stops the chain. Optional Second Look can add context to a critical alert.

Nothing. No app to install, no wristband to charge, no button to press. Their only role is giving consent during setup — from then on, the Guardian watches on its own.

Free allows one Guardian and one active Viewer per Home. Pro allows up to four Guardians in that Home and multiple Viewers with access.

Yes — two-way audio behind one big button. And it's reciprocal on purpose: when someone in the family is watching or listening, the cared person sees it on their phone. Care isn't surveillance.

Yes — full nights, with no restarts, tested on real hardware. Since it uses the phone's camera it needs a minimum of light: a dim night light in the hallway or bedroom is enough.

Yes. There's no lock-in: Pro cancels from the app, and the free alerts keep working exactly the same, forever.
