Never ask an older adult to simulate a fall. Fall testing must only be done safely by someone physically able to do so, or through a controlled simulation.
PRIVACY AND TRUST
Staying close requires consent and clear boundaries.
The main analysis happens on the Guardian phone. Velia is designed to provide useful signals, never for secret surveillance.

- Live video is end-to-end encrypted
- Pro second opinion is optional: one frame may be processed ephemerally in the cloud and is never stored

Before you apply
Do I need to buy a camera?＋
No. Guardian uses the camera on a compatible Android phone you already own.
Which phone can I reuse?＋
An Android phone running 8.0 or newer, with at least 2 GB of RAM, Wi-Fi, and the ability to remain plugged in.
Does the older adult need to wear anything?＋
No. There is no bracelet, button, or new device for them to learn.
Does Velia record video in the cloud?＋
Velia does not store video recordings in the cloud. Live video is end-to-end encrypted. If you enable Pro second opinion, one frame may be processed ephemerally in the cloud and is never stored.
Is Velia a medical device?＋
No. Velia is a best-effort aid for families and may not detect every event. It does not replace personal care or emergency services.
What does the free program include?＋
Three months of Velia Pro for selected participants, guided onboarding, direct support, and early access to improvements.
Do I need to live with the person I support?＋
No. The program is especially relevant to family caregivers supporting someone from a distance.
Can I participate from any country?＋
You can apply from any country. Selection will depend on testing and support availability in each region.
How will my feedback be used?＋
The team will use it privately to identify problems, prioritize improvements, and better understand family needs.
What happens after three months?＋
Before the program ends, we will clearly explain the available options and terms. This application does not enroll you in any automatic conversion or charge.
